By using the Daydream Made Matchmaker ("the Service"), you agree to these terms.
These terms are specific to the Matchmaker and supplement Daydream Made's general Terms of Service, which also apply to your use of the Service. Where these Matchmaker terms directly conflict with the general terms as to your use of the Matchmaker, these Matchmaker terms govern.
The Daydream Matchmaker is a set of book-discovery tools operated by Daydream Made LLC, including the matchmaker quiz, the Book Revealer (which lets you reveal a blind date book you already have and see related recommendations and review coverage), and the Daydream Library (your saved reading history, ratings, preferences, and rewards). These tools use automated and artificial-intelligence techniques to interpret your stated preferences and suggest books from our curated inventory. Any recommendations, matches, or suggestions are exactly that — suggestions based on the information available to us. They are not guarantees that a book will match your taste or expectations.
Our books are individually wrapped, one-of-a-kind items. Availability is not guaranteed. A book shown in your results may sell out before you complete your purchase. We are not responsible for inventory changes between the time you receive your recommendation and the time you attempt to buy.
All purchases are handled through our Shopify store at daydreammade.com. Payment processing, order fulfillment, shipping, and returns are governed by Shopify's terms and our store policies. The matchmaker itself does not process payments or handle orders.
Some links in the Service — for example, "read next" recommendations shown in the Book Revealer — are affiliate links to third-party sites such as Bookshop.org. If you follow one and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. We only link to products we believe you may value, and these relationships do not affect the price you pay.
We do not control third-party sites and are not responsible for their content, products, or practices. When you leave the Service to visit them, you do so at your own risk and under their terms and policies.
Our products are "blind date" books — the title and author are intentionally concealed until you receive the book. By using this service and purchasing a book, you acknowledge and accept that you are choosing a book without knowing its specific title or author.
If you sign in, we keep an account for you so your library, your ratings, your preferences, and your loyalty status persist between visits. The data we hold is your email (from the sign-in provider), the books you've redeemed, the ratings you've given them, the trigger-warning exclusions you've set, and a record of when you took which quiz.
We use this data to improve your matches and to power your rewards. We don't share or sell it. You can ask us to delete it at any time by emailing contact@daydreammade.com. See Privacy for the full breakdown.
We give you a reward toward a future book once you've added a certain number of books to your library — the current threshold and your progress toward it are shown on your Profile screen. Rewards expire if unused; the timer is shown when the reward is generated.
As you read, certain milestones unlock badges on your Profile. Badges are cosmetic — they're recognition, not entitlements. We may add new badges, retire existing ones, or adjust how they're earned. We may also change the reward threshold, the discount amount, or the expiration window. We won't take away a reward you've already earned.
You can download a PNG card summarizing your library or reader profile from inside the Matchmaker. The card is yours — post it wherever you like. We won't use your card or your account to advertise without asking first.
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that recommendations will match your taste, that the service will be available without interruption, or that results will be error-free.
Daydream Made LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the specific book in question.
You agree not to misuse the Service, including but not limited to: (a) using the Service for any unlawful purpose; (b) extracting, reverse-engineering, aggregating, or publishing the concealed titles, authors, or identities of our blind date books, or otherwise attempting to de-anonymize our catalog or inventory; (c) using robots, spiders, scrapers, or other automated means to access or harvest content in a way that burdens our systems or circumvents access controls; or (d) interfering with, bypassing, or circumventing rate limits, robot-exclusion rules, or other security or access-control measures.
If you use, enable, or deploy any software agent that accesses the Service autonomously or semi-autonomously on your behalf, that agent must, at all times: (a) identify itself as an agent and disclose its name in the user-agent string of every request, in the form "Agent/[agent name]"; (b) not conceal that it is an agent, mimic human behavior to evade detection, or solve or bypass CAPTCHAs or other measures meant to distinguish humans from computers; (c) answer truthfully when asked whether interactions come from a human or a computer; and (d) not circumvent any measure we use to block, limit, or control agent access. We may limit or block agent access by technical or other means.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles, and you consent to venue and personal jurisdiction in the state and federal courts located in Connecticut.
We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. If we make material changes to how we handle account-holder data, you'll be asked to re-acknowledge our updated Privacy Policy the next time you log in.
